Patient Advocates are integral members of the North Central Cancer Treatment Group.  NCCTG Patient Advocates, who are usually cancer survivors, play an active role in cancer research by bringing the patient perspective to the investigative and clinical environment.  Patient Advocates attend scientific meetings and review trial protocols.

NCCTG Patient Advocates are available for individual, family and group meetings, and community presentations about the role of clinical trials in cancer care.

NCCTG Patient Advocates operate in two distinct settings:   1) at the research base - the Mayo Clinic  2)at individual NCCTG Member Oncology Programs.

NCCTG Advocates at individual NCCTG Member Oncology Programs work with the clinicians offering clinical trials to help make the entire operation a "patient friendly" setting.  The advocates also work within their local communities by helping the patients and general population better understand cancer research and the clinical trial options.
